Tyler Butterfield
Tyler Barbour Butterfield (born February 12, 1983 in Pembroke Parish ) is a Bermudian cyclist , triathlete and two-time Olympian (2004, 2012). He is listed in the best list of triathletes on the Ironman distance .
Career
In 2002 Tyler Butterfield was third in Mexico at the World Junior Triathlon Championship.
2004 Summer Olympics
Before he had his first successes in cycling, Tyler Butterfield was better known as a triathlete , the then 21-year-old taking part in the triathlon competition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , where he finished 35th .
In 2005 he started the Tour de la Guadeloupe and led the overall standings during one stage. A year later he won a stage of the Tour de la Guadeloupe and again wore the jersey of the leader in the overall standings for one day.
In the 2007 season Butterfield drove for the US Professional Continental Team Slipstream Chipotle and was able to become the Bermudian road race champion. In 2008 he started for the French amateur team “Vendée U”, which was founded in 1991 by Jean-René Bernaudeau .
2012 Summer Olympics
In 2012 he was able to qualify again in the triathlon for the Olympic Games and finished 34th in London.
In August 2015 he finished eighth in the middle distance at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in the Austrian state of Salzburg as part of the Ironman 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun . In 2016, he won the Ironman 70.3 Timberman in August .
In November 2019 he won his first Ironman race with Ironman Mexico (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and with a time of 7:44:01 h he was the fifth fastest ever on the Ironman -Distance scored time a.
Tyler is married to former triathlete Nikki Butterfield (* 1982) and they have two children together.
