Kaisa Sali (born August 14, 1981 in Helsinki as Kaisa Maria Lehtonen ) is a Finnish duathlete and triathlete . She is multiple Ironman winner (2016, 2017, 2018) and European champion in the triathlon middle distance (2015). She is included in the best list of triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Kaisa Lehtonen completed a degree in nutritional science.
In 1999 she started with the juniors at the European Triathlon Championships and finished 31st. In 2001 she was thirteenth. She has been a professional athlete since 2007. At the Duathlon European Championship in Budapest in 2009 she was third.

State champion triathlon sprint and middle distance 2014

In June she became national champion in the sprint distance and in July also in the middle distance.
In 2014 she switched from the short distance to the long distance and in September she won the title of Vice World Champion.

European champion triathlon middle distance 2015

In May 2015 Kaisa Lehtonen became European champion in the triathlon middle distance.

In April 2016 she won the Ironman South Africa at her second start in an Ironman race (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) . At the Ironman Hawaii in October, she finished fifth.

In May 2017 she married Markus Sali and has since started as Kaisa Sali . In June she was third at the Ironman 70.3 European Championships in Denmark. In October 2017, as in the previous year, she was fifth at the Ironman Hawaii after she had made up many places with the second-best marathon time of the day (3:01:34 h).

At Challenge Roth in July 2018, after 8:46:49 h, she finished third with a new personal best on the long distance. Four weeks later, the 36-year-old won her third Ironman race with Ironman Switzerland . At the Ironman Hawaii in October, she finished seventh.
