Katrina Matthews (* 1991 as Katrina Rye in Exmouth ) is a British duathlete and triathlete . She is included in the best list of British triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Katrina Rye is a physiotherapist with the British Armed Forces in the Royal Army Medical Corps .

In July 2018, she won the Ironman 70.3 Calgary in her first start in the middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) .

She has been a professional athlete since the 2019 season and came third in her first elite start in the Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire in June . In July, the 27-year-old was then in Romania at her third start with the professionals ETU European champion in the triathlon middle distance.

She got married in November 2019 and has since started as Katrina Matthews . At her first start on the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) she finished fourth in Ironman Western Australia after 8:53:59 h in December 2019 - and carried herself as tenth fastest British female athlete in the leaderboard .
