Florian Angert (born April 3, 1992 in Weinheim ) is a German triathlete , Ironman winner (2019) and runner-up European champion in the middle distance triathlon (2016). He is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .
Career
Florian Angert was active as a competitive swimmer, started in the C-team of the German Swimming Association, and took part in the 2010 European Youth Championship in Helsinki. At national level, Angert secures year championship titles in the 200, 400 and 1500 m freestyle.
He started his first triathlon in 2012 in Mußbach at the suggestion of his friend Celia Kuch . At the Challenge Heilbronn in June 2016, he finished fifth in the German championship on the triathlon middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21 km running).
Vice European Champion 2016
In September Florian Angert was runner-up in the middle distance triathlon as part of the Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl .
He has been part of the Erdinger Non-Alcoholic Team since 2017 .
At the Ironman 70.3 Jönköping , the then 26-year-old won his first title in an Ironman 70.3 race (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) in July 2018 .
In October 2019, Angert started at the Ironman Barcelona for the first time on the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and he won the race after 7:45:05 h with a new course record.
He is trained by Philipp Seipp . The professional triathlete and student of nutrition science lives in Schwaigern near Heilbronn .
