Celia Kuch (born July 31, 1978 in Weinheim ) is a German triathlete and vice-European champion in the long distance (2013).

Career

Celia Kuch was active as an artistic gymnast in her youth and ran her first marathon in 2003. In 2004 and 2005 she competed in triathlons in Germany and New Zealand. She started structured training in 2006 at the age of 27.

In 2004 she finished her studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Diploma in Sports Science) and then did her Master of Science at the University of Auckland from 2005 to 2007 .

Long distance triathlon since 2007

In January 2007 she started in Wanaka (New Zealand) for the first time in a triathlon competition over the long distance (3.86 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and was able to achieve fourth place. She was looked after in New Zealand by her coach Walter Thorburn . From 2004 to 2010 Celia Kuch lived in Auckland (New Zealand) and since May 2010 she has returned to Weinheim .
She started for the TSG Weinheim team Radsport Wagner , was trained by Kristian Manietta , Charlotte Paul's husband, and looked after by Astrid Stienen and her husband Christian . From 2010 to 2011 she was looked after by Susanne Buckenlei .

Celia Kuch mainly took part in long-distance triathlon competitions. In July 2012 she started at the European Championships of the European Triathlon Union (ETU) in Roth and finished twelfth. In August, she broke her collarbone in a training fall.

Vice-European Champion Long Distance Triathlon 2013

In September 2013 she was runner-up in Vichy, France, in the long-distance triathlon.

In her first duathlon start as part of the Powerman racing series, she became German runner-up in the long-distance duathlon in May 2014. In September 2014 she finished fourth at the ETU Long Distance European Championship, which was held as part of the Challenge Almere-Amsterdam . In October, Celia Kuch was fourth fastest German woman in Mallorca and finished 13th at the European Championships in the middle distance.

In June 2016, she announced that she would end her active career after the 2016 season. In August she became German runner-up on the long distance duathlon for the second time in Ulm.

Since 2017 she has been competing without a professional license and in September 2017 the 39-year-old finished third at the Ironman Vichy . Celia Kuch works today as a trainer and coach.
