Clemente Alonso McKernan (born April 23, 1978 in Málaga ) is a Spanish triathlete and Ironman winner (2012, 2014). He is included in the best list of Spanish triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Clemente Alonso McKernan was active as a swimmer and is starting today in triathlon competitions - mainly in the medium and long distance.

His first major successes were third place at the Junior World Championships in 1997 and the title of Junior European Champion in 1998.

In 2009 he qualified for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running), where he finished 17th. Just two weeks later he finished eleventh at the International Triathlon Union (ITU) long distance world championship .

In April 2012 he won the Ironman South Africa and in July came third at the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt am Main.

In October 2014 he won the Ironman Barcelona , which he had already won in 2011, when it was still held under the name Challenge Barcelona-Maresme .
