Marc Dülsen (born July 30, 1985 in Stuttgart ) is a German triathlete and Ironman winner (2016). He is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In 2011, Dülsen came second as an amateur in the M25–29 age group at Ironman Germany in Frankfurt am Main and third at Ironman Hawaii (overall rank: 52).

European champion triathlon middle distance 2012

In 2012 he became the European middle distance champion in the same age group.

Triathlon professional since 2013

In his first season as a professional, he finished seventh after 8:14:29 h at Ironman Arizona 2013 and set his personal best.

At the Ironman European Championship 2014, Dülsen was seventh, third-best German behind the reigning winner of Ironman Hawaii, Sebastian Kienle and the Olympic champion Jan Frodeno .

At Ironman 70.3 (half the Ironman distance) in Miami in October 2014, he came in fifth.

In September 2016 he was the first German to win the sixth Ironman Wales event. For 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42 km of running ( marathon run ), nozzles required 9:01:39 h. With that he secured victory over Briton Philip Graves .

With the aim of qualifying for the first time as a professional triathlete for the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships), Marc Dülsen switched to the Austrian Pro Team Mohrenwirt at the beginning of the 2017 season. At the start of the season, the Freiburg resident competed in the Ironman 70.3 in Texas and the North American championships at the Ironman Texas . With a time of 8:07:25 h he was able to clearly undercut his personal best from 2013.

With a third place in his home race, the Ironman 70.3 Kraichgau , he celebrated his greatest success so far in the middle distance in June 2017.

In July 2018, after 8:02:54 h, the 32-year-old finished second at the Ironman UK with a new personal best on the long distance . Due to forest fires, the bike distance had to be shortened from 112 to 95 miles.
