Karlsdorf-Neuthard is located about 6 km west of Bruchsal and about 18 km northeast of Karlsruhe .

The Saalbach and Saalbach Canal flow through Karlsdorf . Karlsdorf is also crossed by the so-called Hardtgraben. The Pfinz , which stretches from the Pfinztal to the Rhine , flows through Neuthard . In the northwest of the district is the Sieben-Erlen-See , a local recreation area of ​​the municipality, which is surrounded by the Hardtwald .

Community structure

The municipality of Karlsdorf-Neuthard was created in the course of the municipality reform through the voluntary amalgamation of the formerly independent villages Karlsdorf and Neuthard on January 1, 1975. The village of Karlsdorf and the settlement Stadtwald-Siedlung belong to the former municipality of Karlsdorf. The village of Neuthard belongs to the former municipality of Neuthard.

Karlsdorf was founded in 1813 when citizens from Dettenheim , who repeatedly suffered from the strong flooding of the Rhine, were resettled with the permission of Grand Duke Karl von Baden . As a thank you, the new place was given the name of the Grand Duke. Karlsdorf was the second youngest town in the former Bruchsal district , to which it had belonged until the district reform in 1973.

Neuthard

Neuthard was first mentioned in a document in 1281. For many centuries it belonged to the Speyer Monastery . In the course of mediatization due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , 1803 came to the Grand Duchy of Baden . There the place belonged to the district of Bruchsal, with which it went up in 1973 as part of the district reform in the district of Karlsruhe.

Since Dettenheim and Neuthard were largely unaffected by the Reformation , the majority of residents are still of the Roman Catholic denomination today . Together with Büchenau, the two places form the pastoral care unit Karlsdorf-Neuthard-Büchenau . Community partnerships

Karlsdorf-Neuthard has had a partnership with Nyergesújfalu in Hungary since 1991 . In November 2010, a partnership document was also signed with the southern Brazilian city of Guabiruba .

Karlsdorf-Neuthard is served by bus line 125 of the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund , which goes to Karlsruhe and via Bruchsal to Waghäusel . Karlsdorf is connected to the Deutsche Bahn network by the Bruhrainbahn (Bruchsal - Germersheim ) . On the national highway 35 which passes as a northern bypass at the site since 2003, Karlsdorf-Neuthard is with the National Highway 5 , respectively. The Bruchsal / Karlsdorf exit connects the Karlsdorf district directly to the motorway.
