Dieter Schlindwein (born February 7, 1961 in Karlsdorf ) is a former German soccer player who was active between 1978 and 1996 for SV Waldhof Mannheim , Werder Bremen , Eintracht Frankfurt and FC St. Pauli in the first and second Bundesliga.

Player career

As a youth he played for FC Germania Karlsdorf in Baden and was signed by the second division club SV Waldhof Mannheim at the age of 17 . After six seasons he rose with the club as champions of the 2nd Bundesliga in the Bundesliga , in which he made his debut on August 13, 1983 (1st matchday) in a 2-0 win at home against Werder Bremen from the start. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on May 19, 1984 (33rd matchday) in a 2-1 win in the away game against Fortuna Düsseldorf with the goal to make it 1-1 in the 58th minute. After three seasons he moved to league rivals Werder Bremen, for whom he only played three games. As a result, he moved to the season 1987/88 in the league to Eintracht Frankfurt , which he left after two seasons and get to the career end in 1996 the FC St. Pauli joined. Dieter Schlindwein caused a scandal at the beginning of 1994 when he insulted the Brazilian Leonardo Manzi as a "black pig" in a training camp run by FC St. Pauli . Schlindwein later apologized for this abuse.
