Manuel Debus

Manuel Debus (* 1948 in Nuremberg ) is a German physiotherapist , author and former triathlete .

Life

With Detlef Kühnel, Debus is one of two Germans who first contested an Ironman triathlon in 1982 . This makes him the founding father of the German triathlon movement. He has compiled his experiences from the World Championship races at Ironman Hawaii in a book. He wrote the first German-language manual on the subject of triathlon, which helped many athletes to get started in a previously unknown sport.

In 1983 Debus created the first organizational structures and founded the DTV (German Triathlon Association), one of the two predecessor associations of today's German Triathlon Union (DTU).

His original profession is a textile merchant. After studying business administration, he learned the profession of masseur and med. Lifeguard. He is now the owner of a physical practice in Nuremberg . Manuel Debus is married to Margit Debus and has a son and a daughter.
