Paul Ruttmann
Paul Ruttmann (born August 22, 1985 ) is an Austrian police officer who used to be active in rowing and is now a triathlete . He is the reigning national champion on the long distance triathlon (2018, 2019) and is included in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .
Career
Rowing (2002 to 2013)
Paul Ruttmann started at the Junior World Championships in rowing in the open weight class in 2002 and 2003 and then moved to the lightweight division . In the years 2004 to 2007 he was able to qualify for the U23 world championships in rowing. From 2006 to 2010 he competed four times in the rowing world championships and achieved sixth place as the best result at the 2008 World Championships in Linz-Ottensheim in the two-man without helmsman of the lightweights. In 2006, 2007 and 2010 he started in the lightweight four without a helmsman for Austria. In 2013 he won the state championship in eighth.
His sporting achievements in rowing include:
- Rowing World Championships 2006 : 19th place in the lightweight four without a helmsman with Paul Sommeregger , Bernd Wakolbinger , Paul Ruttmann and Uwe Daxböck
- Rowing World Championships 2007 : 16th place in the lightweight four without a helmsman with Dominik Sigl , Oliver Komaromy , Paul Ruttmann and Christian Rabel
- Rowing World Championships 2008 : 6th place in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman with Juliusz Madecki and Paul Ruttmann
- European Rowing Championships 2010 : 11th place in the lightweight four without a helmsman with Alexander Rath , Paul Ruttmann, Dominik Sigl and Oliver Komaromy
- Rowing World Championships 2010 : 13th place in the lightweight four without a helmsman with Dominik Sigl, Oliver Komaromy, Paul Ruttmann and Christian Rabel
- Austrian State Championships 2013: 1st place in eighth place in a racing community
Triathlon (since 2013)
He ended his rowing career in September 2013 and has been a triathlete ever since. His friend Christian Birngruber moved him to make this new beginning. He starts today for the PSV TRiLinz club and is a member of the triathlon squad of the Austrian Police Sports Association .
In July 2015 he became Vice State Champion in the middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 88.5 km cycling and 21.1 km running) at the Trumer Triathlon.
In June 2018 he was third at the European Police Championships Triathlon. On September 1st he became national long distance champion at the Austria Triathlon and he was able to successfully defend this title in 2019.
