from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A racing community (RG, Rgm.) (Also known as a starting community (SG)) is understood in many sports as the common fighting of athletes from several clubs in one team .

Usually, the competition rules only allow athletes from a single club to be on a team. A racing community is an exception to this rule in order to allow teams to cross club boundaries without the need for a change of club of the athletes (often only possible seasonally). Often this is the only way to form teams in certain competition classes.

There are different models for racing or starting groups in the individual sports. In Germany z. B. In rowing, racing communities between any clubs are possible, in athletics and swimming a starting community is formed as a kind of umbrella association of two or more independent clubs, in canoe racing, racing communities are only possible at the state level. This means that they do not start directly in the name of their club, but only appear under the name of the racing community / starting community. In other cases (e.g. rowing, canoeing) the common teams are only put together for one event and can therefore vary from competition to competition. In the area of the Association of German Cyclists , racing communities can be agreed both for all races in a season and only for certain races, disciplines and sections of the season.

In some cases, racing associations are subject to certain restrictions, such as the restriction to certain competitions. So are z. B. In the German championship rowing no racing communities are allowed, but in other competitions.
