Bernd Wakolbinger

Bernd Wakolbinger (born February 2, 1976 in Linz ) is a former Austrian lightweight rower .

Wakolbinger grew up in Perg and graduated from the competitive sports branch of the federal upper level secondary school in Linz . He is the operations manager and authorized signatory of a company in the cardboard industry in Naarn im Machlande .

Wakolbinger is a member of the Wiking Linz rowing club. Together with Martin Kobau , Wolfgang Sigl and Sebastian Sageder he won gold for Austria at the 2001 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne in the lightweight four-man without a helmsman . In 2000 the team was also World Cup winner and in 2002 World Cup second. In total, the teams around Wakolbinger achieved 13 medals in world cups and 36 Austrian national championships in various competitions. Wakolbinger and his rowing colleagues for Austria took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 and in Athens in 2004, each reaching the B final in an easy foursome.
