Stephan Fahrig (born November 20, 1968 in Unkel ; † January 23, 2017 ) was a German rower and holds a doctorate in sports science .

Career

The two-time world champion achieved his successes mainly in the boat class of lightweight fours without a helmsman . From 1988 to 1995 he took part in world championships eight times and, in addition to four U-23 titles, won a total of eleven national championships in the lightweight boat classes of two without a helmsman , four without a helmsman, double fours and eight . In his doctorate at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg , he examined the characteristics of interaction in two without a helmsman.

Stephan Fahrig most recently worked in Berlin as sales manager for medical devices. He died on January 23, 2017 of a long-standing leukemia disease. He left behind his wife and two children.
