Todd Skipworth (born February 15, 1985 in Perth ) is a former lightweight rower from Australia who is now active as a triathlete .

Career

Rowing until 2012

Skipworth began rowing in 1999. He made his first international appearance at the U23 world regatta in 2004, the then unofficial world championships for the U23 age group, where he was unable to qualify for the final with the Australian selection in the lightweight four-man team without a helmsman . From the following year Skipworth rowed in the open age group at the World Championships and took fourth place in the easy four-without. The sixth place followed in 2006 and seventh place in 2007 . At the 2008 Olympic Games , the Australian foursome finished ninth.

In 2010 Skipworth returned to the World Cup after a one-year break , the best result of the season to date was achieved by the Australian lightweight four-man without a helmsman with Anthony Edwards , Samuel Beltz , Blair Tunevitsch and Todd Skipworth at the World Championships in New Zealand : The British four-man had seven in a photo finish One hundredth of a second ahead of the Australians, another hundredth of a second back, the Chinese foursome received the bronze medal.

With Benjamin Cureton for Tunevitsch, the revenge succeeded a year later at the World Championships 2011 in Bled , the Australians won the world championship before the Italians and the British. In the final of the 2012 Olympic Regatta , the Australian lightweight foursome finished fourth with Skipworth, Edwards, Beltz and Cureton - with a gap of just under a second in third place.

The 1.82 m tall Skipworth then ended his career in rowing. He started for the Swan River Rowing Club in Perth.

Triathlon since 2009

Todd Skipworth has also been active in triathlon since 2009.
In 2014, he finished sixth at the European Championships on the short distance triathlon in Zurich.
