Kasper Winther
Kasper Winther Jørgensen (born March 21, 1985 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish rower and two-time world champion in the lightweight foursome without a helmsman .
Winther finished fourth at the 2006 World Rowing Championships with the Danish lightweight eighth . In 2007 he rowed with Asbjørn Jønsen in the uncontrolled lightweight two-man. The two reached the final of the six best boats in all three World Cup regattas, but only finished twelfth at the World Championships in Munich . In 2008, Winther and Morten Jørgensen won the first two World Cup regattas in Munich and Lucerne in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman. Morten Jørgensen moved up for the Olympic Games in Beijing as a substitute in the foursome, who won the gold medal in the line-up Thomas Ebert , Mads Kruse Andersen , Morten Jørgensen and Eskild Ebbesen .
In 2009, the newly assembled four-man with Christian Pedersen , Jens Vilhelmsen , Kasper Winther and Morten Jørgensen won all three World Cup regattas, and at the 2009 World Rowing Championships in Poznan the boat crossed the finish line 0.25 seconds behind the German boat. In 2010 the Danish four-man won the first World Cup regatta and finished second in the next two regattas. Fifth place at the European Championships in Portugal was the worst result of the season for Pedersen, Vilhelmsen, Winther and Jørgensen. At the 2010 World Championships in New Zealand, the four Danes fought for victory in the first race, but did not compete afterwards.
In 2011 the Danish boat won the first two World Cup regattas in the line-up of Kasper Winther, Morten Jørgensen, Jacob Barsøe and Eskild Ebbesen and took third place in the third regatta in Lucerne. Barsøe and Winther swapped places at the 2011 World Championships in Bled , and the boat took fifth place in the final. The following year, the Danish lightweight four reached the Olympic final in the previous year's line-up and won the bronze medal.
In 2013 Winther, Jacob Larsen , Barsøe and Jørgensen won the first World Cup regatta and then came second twice. At the World Championships in Korea , the Danish four won ahead of the boats from New Zealand and the United Kingdom. At the beginning of June 2014 the four Danes also won the title at the European Rowing Championships in 2014 , followed by the world championship in August . In 2015 the Danish four-man teamed up with Kasper Winther, Jens Vilhelmsen, Jacob Barsøe and Jacob Larsen and won the bronze medal at the European championships behind the boats from Switzerland and France. At the 2015 World Championships , the Danes received silver behind the Swiss and ahead of the French. A year later, the Swiss won again at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , ahead of the Danes and the French.
With a height of 1.82 meters, Winther has a typical competition weight of around 73 kilograms for lightweights . He rows for the Roskilde Roklub .
