Jacob Barsøe

Jacob Jepsen Barsøe (born September 21, 1988 in Vejle ) is a Danish rower and two-time world champion in the lightweight foursome without a helmsman . He won the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro .

Career

Barsøe finished seventh at the 2008 European Championships with the lightweight four without a helmsman . In 2009 Barsøe competed with Lasse Dittmann in the lightweight two-man without a helmsman, the two took sixth place at the 2009 World Championships . In 2010 Barsøe rowed at the European Championships in the lightweight eighth, with which he won the silver medal behind the Italian boat. In 2011 the Danish lightweight four without a helmsman in the line-up of Kasper Winther , Morten Jørgensen , Jacob Barsøe and Eskild Ebbesen won the first two regattas in the World Cup , and the Danes took fifth place at the World Championships . The following year, the Danish lightweight four reached the Olympic final in the previous year's line-up and won the bronze medal. In 2013 Winther, Barsøe, Jacob Larsen and Jørgensen won the titles at the European Championships in Seville and at the World Championships in Korea . In early June 2014, the four Danes also won the title at the 2014 European Championships . At the end of August 2014, he won the title at the World Championships in Amsterdam . In 2015 the Danish four-man teamed up with Kasper Winther, Jens Vilhelmsen , Jacob Barsøe and Jacob Larsen and won the bronze medal at the European championships behind the boats from Switzerland and France. At the 2015 World Championships , the Danes received silver behind the Swiss and ahead of the French. A year later, the Swiss won again at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , ahead of the Danes and the French.

With a height of 1.88 meters, Barsøe has a typical competition weight of about 73 kilograms for lightweights . He rows for the Roskilde Roklub .

Life

Barsøe is a student at Copenhagen Business School .
