Contres is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Le Controis-en-Sologne with 3737 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire .
On January 1, 2019, the Contres municipality merged with Thenay , Fougères-sur-Bièvre , Feings and Ouchamps to form the Commune nouvelle Le Controis-en-Sologne. It belonged to the Arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and the Canton of Montrichard

Contres is located on the Bièvre River in the Sologne countryside . Contres is surrounded by the neighboring communities Fresnes in the north and north-west, Cheverny in the north and north-east, Fontaines-en-Sologne in the north-east, Soings-en-Sologne in the east, Sassay in the south, Oisly and Choussy in the south-west, Thenay in the west and south-west as well Feings in the northwest.
The former National Route 156 and 675 lead through the Commune déléguée .
