Sassay is a French commune with 1,023 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and is part of the canton of Montrichard (until 2015: canton of Contres ). The inhabitants are called Sassayens .

geography

Sassay is located about 20 kilometers south-southeast of Blois in the Sologne countryside . Sassay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Controis-en-Sologne with Contres in the north, Soings-en-Sologne in the east, Chémery in the south and south-east, Couddes in the south and west and Oisly in the west.
