Souesmes (pronounced "ßuäm") is a French municipality with 1059 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . Souesmes is the easternmost municipality in the Loir-et-Cher department. It is located 200 kilometers south of Paris in the Sologne forest .

history
- Souesmes is on the Roman road between Avaricum ( Bourges ) and Cenabum ( Orléans ). The river Sauldre - north of Souesmes - was the border between the Carnutes and the Biturigen .
- Original names: "Sesmovico", "Segimo vico" (Merovingian coin), "Sissima" in 634, "Seisma" in the 11th century, then "Soeme" (different spellings since the Middle Ages).
- In 634, owned by the monastery of Saint Julian of Auxerre ; the church then belonged to the collegiate church of St. Taurin of La Ferté-Imbault .
- United in 1451 with the count town of Blois . In 1498 to the crown domain under King Ludwig XII. connected.
- June 17, 1944: heavy fighting between Germans and the French Resistance .
