Chaon is a French municipality with 459 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and is part of the canton of La Sologne (until 2015: canton of Lamotte-Beuvron ). The inhabitants are called chaonnais .

geography

Chaon is located about 39 kilometers southeast of Orléans in the Sologne countryside . Chaon is surrounded by the neighboring communities Souvigny-en-Sologne in the north, Isdes in the east and north-east, Brinon-sur-Sauldre in the south and south-east, Pierrefitte-sur-Sauldre in the south and south-west and Vouzon in the west and north-west.
