Lamotte-Beuvron is a French municipality with 4724 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and the canton of La Sologne .
geography
Lamotte-Beuvron is located on the Beuvron River and the former Canal de la Sauldre in the Sologne countryside . Lamotte-Beuvron is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vouzon in the north, Souvigny-en-Sologne in the northeast, Chaon in the east, Pierrefitte-sur-Sauldre in the southeast, Nouan-le-Fuzelier in the south, Saint-Viâtre in the southwest, Chaumont-sur- Tharonne to the west and La Ferté-Saint-Aubin to the northwest.
Lamotte-Beuvron is part of the Cour-Cheverny wine-growing region . The Autoroute A71 and Route nationale 20 as well as the former Route nationale 733 passed through the municipality .

Originally the place was called La Mothe-sur-Beuvron and indicated an earlier moth near the river.
