geography
Châteauvieux is the southernmost commune of the Loir-et-Cher department. It is located about 40 kilometers south of Blois . Châteauvieux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Seigny in the north, Couffy in the northeast, Lye in the east, Villentrois-Faverolles-en-Berry in the south, Nouans-les-Fontaines in the southwest, Orbigny in the west and Saint-Aignan in the northwest.
