Monthou-sur-Cher is about 26 kilometers south of Blois and about 45 kilometers east-southeast of Tours on the Cher , which borders the municipality in the south. Monthou-sur-Cher is surrounded by the neighboring communities Le Controis-en-Sologne with Thenay in the north, Choussy in the east, Thésée in the southeast, Pouillé in the south, Angé in the southwest, Montrichard Val de Cher in the west and Pontlevoy in the northwest.
