Vouzon Town Hall

Vouzon is a French commune with 1,483 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and is part of the canton of La Sologne (until 2015: canton of Lamotte-Beuvron ). The inhabitants are called Vouzonais .

geography

Vouzon is located about 35 kilometers south-southeast of Orléans in the Sologne countryside . The Tharonne River has its source in the west of the municipality. Vouzon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ménestreau-en-Villette in the north, Sennely in the northeast, Souvigny-en-Sologne in the east, Chaon in the east and southeast, Pierrefitte-sur-Sauldre in the south and southeast, Nouan-le-Fuzelier and Lamotte- Beuvron in the south, Chaumont-sur-Tharonne in the west and south-west and La Ferté-Saint-Aubin in the north-west.

The A71 autoroute and the former Route nationale 20 (today's D2020) run through the municipality .
