Chaumont-sur-Tharonne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of La Ferté-Saint-Aubin in the north, Vouzon in the east and northeast, Lamotte-Beuvron in the east, Nouan-le-Fuzelier in the southeast, Saint-Viâtre in the south, Neung-sur-Beuvron in the southwest and Yvoy-le-Marron in the west.
