Saint-Viâtre is a French commune with 1,196 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and the canton La Sologne (until 2015: canton Salbris ).
geography
Saint-Viâtre is about 55 kilometers northwest of Bourges . Saint-Viâtre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chaumont-sur-Tharonne in the north, Nouan-le-Fuzelier in the east, Salbris in the south-east, La Ferté-Imbault in the south, Marcilly-en-Gault in the south-west as well as Neung-sur-Beuvron and La Ferté-Beauharnais in the northwest.
About 10% of the community area is covered by ponds and lakes.
