Andrés Bertomeu

Andrés Bertomeu (born January 21, 1976 in Mannheim ) is a drummer , keyboardist and verrophone player with Spanish-Hungarian roots who lives in Germany .

Artistic creation

After graduating from high school, Andrés Bertomeu first studied classical drums at the Mannheim University of Music . During his studies he began to work as a freelance orchestral drummer (including in the Frankfurt Opera , in the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR , in the Mannheim National Theater , the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe and the State Philharmonic of Rhineland-Palatinate). At the same time he was a drummer in various rock / pop formations such as the ska band Ngobo Ngobo or with Popgear, the winning band of the 1st Mannheim Music Award.

In 2002, with the rockabilly pop band The Flames, produced by Gagey Mrozek (Kin Ping Meh, Herbert Grönemeyer ), he reached number 13 in the German single charts with the Afri-Cola song Everytime . The title also made it into the top 20 in Austria and Switzerland. Until his departure in 2011, Andrés Bertomeu performed with the Flames as a multi-instrumentalist and played keyboards , vibraphones and a second drum set live . With the band he received the 2003 Radio Regenbogen Award .

In 2005 he took over the vacant drummer position with the Krautrock band Kin Ping Meh , which was reunited for a few concerts, and among other things he played a concert in Bonn that was recorded for the WDR-Kraut- Rockpalast .

Career as a glass musician

Since 2006 Andrés Bertomeu has also been one of the few professional Verrophon players in the world. He was a guest at the ensemble for contemporary music Collegium Novum Zurich and works with orchestras such as the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Zurich Opera , the Essen Philharmonic, the Heidelberg Philharmonic and the Karlsruhe State Theater. As a glass musician and multi-instrumentalist, he has been an integral part of the show Lost and Found Orchestra , a new production by the British percussion performance group Stomp, since 2008 .
