The Collegium Novum Zurich is an ensemble for contemporary music from Zurich .

Founded in 1993, the Collegium Novum Zurich aims to promote contemporary music and bring it to life. At the same time, contemporary music creation is placed in the context of the music of bygone eras. An important part of the artistic work is the direct contact with the composer as well as the exchange with cooperation partners like the Zurich University of the Arts and the experimental studio of the SWR . Thanks to its mobile structure, the currently 23-member soloist ensemble can flexibly fall back on any line-up, from solo to large ensemble. In this way, the program can be based entirely on content-related criteria. The members also appear as soloists with the ensemble and, in addition to their work at the Collegium Novum Zurich, play leading roles in Swiss cultural life.

The Collegium Novum Zurich, which is subsidized by the City of Zurich , has had its own concert series in Zurich for years, in which ensemble projects are regularly realized in the Tonhalle and other concert venues in the city in cooperation with the Tonhalle Society and other partners . The cross-disciplinary networking of the arts as well as obvious connections between the musical program and the concert venue are sought.

The Collegium Novum Zurich premiered numerous works, including compositions by Gary Berger, Ricardo Eizirik, Beat Furrer , Vinko Globokar, Georg Friedrich Haas , Edu Haubensak , Hans Werner Henze , Klaus Huber , Michael Jarrell , Mischa Käser , Rudolf Kelterborn , Jorge E.
