Nadir Vassena

Nadir Vassena (born August 22, 1970 in Balerna , Ticino ) is a Swiss composer of new music .

Vassena studied composition in Milan and at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . He is a lecturer and since 2004 a member of the board of directors at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano . Vassena is one of the leaders of the Days for New Music Zurich .

He was awarded several prizes for his work. Among them were u. a. first prize ex aequo from the Institute for New Music at the Berlin University of the Arts (1994), second prize from Mozarteum Salzburg (1997) and the Basel Christoph Delz Prize (1999). In 2003 Vassena received a residency grant from the Chretzeturm artist residence in Stein am Rhein .
