Fougères-sur-Bièvre is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Le Controis-en-Sologne with 815 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Loir-et-Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire .

The Commune déléguée on the Bièvre River covers 14.69 square kilometers at around 90 meters above sea level .

history

The local nobility of Fougères is first mentioned in 1030. Its fortified mansion was destroyed in the Hundred Years War in 1350/60. Today's Fougères-sur-Bièvre Castle , which characterizes the place, was built in several stages from 1465 onwards.

On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Fougères-sur-Bièvre merged with Thenay , Ouchamps , Feings and Contres to form the Commune nouvelle Le Controis-en-Sologne. It belonged to the arrondissement Romorantin-Lanthenay and the canton Blois-3 .

The Catholic Church of Saint- Eloi is located near the castle . It was built in the 12th century by the Pontlevoy Abbey and has a Romanesque building with the choir from the time it was built. The bell tower on the south side, the south aisle and the north side chapel of the Villebresme date from the 15th and 16th centuries and are thus Gothic , while the north aisle and the main portal in the west were built in the 19th century. The furnishings and the stained glass on the windows date mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries.
