Samuel Beltz

Samuel Beltz (* 31 August 1980 in Hobart ) is an Australian lightweight - rowers .

Career

Beltz began rowing in 1998 and took part in a World Cup regatta for the first time in 1999, when he finished sixth in the Australian lightweight quadruple sculler. In 2001 he took part in the world championships for the first time and took sixth place with the Australian lightweight eighth, and ninth with the lightweight two-man without a helmsman. Beltz won his first world championship medal at the 2003 World Rowing Championships in Milan when he finished second with the lightweight quadruple scull, followed by bronze with the lightweight eighth in 2004.

Twelfth place in a double scull at the 2005 World Championships with Cameron Wurf was followed by fourth places in 2006 and 2007 with Thomas Gibson . At the 2008 Olympics , Beltz and Gibson finished tenth. In 2010, Beltz returned to the World Cup after a one-year break, the best result of the season was achieved by the Australian lightweight four-man without a helmsman with Anthony Edwards , Samuel Beltz, Blair Tunevitsch and Todd Skipworth at the World Championships in New Zealand : The British four-man had a lead of seven hundredths of a second in a photo finish ahead of the Australians, another hundredth of a second behind, the Chinese foursome received the bronze medal. With Benjamin Cureton for Tunevitsch succeeded a year later at the world championships in Bled revenge, the Australians won the world title in front of the Italians and the British. In the final of the Olympic Regatta 2012 , the Australian lightweight four finished fourth.

The 1.79 m tall Beltz is a trained physiotherapist and rows for the Lindisfarne RC.
