Alwin Otten

Alwin Otten (* 9. April 1963 in Meppen ) is a former German lightweight - rowers . From 1985 to 1989 he won two titles, two silver medals and one bronze medal at world championships.

Career

Alwin Otten from Wassersportverein Meppen occupied in 1981 in one sixth place in the Junior World Championships . In 1982 he was second in the adult class behind Olaf Reichelt in the lightweight single. Otten won his first German championship title in 1984 in the lightweight eighth . At the World Championships in 1984 he finished seventh with eighth. In 1985 Otten won the German championship titles in the lightweight eight and the lightweight four without a helmsman . At the 1985 World Championships , the German lightweight four-man with Alwin Otten, Frank Rogall , Thomas Jaeckel and Wolfgang Birkner won the title in front of the boats from Italy and the USA. As in 1985, Otten won two German championship titles in 1986, in addition to the lightweight four without a helmsman, he was also successful in the lightweight quadruple scull , with Birkner and Otten rowing in both championship boats. At the world championships in 1986 and 1987 , Alwin Otten won the silver medal in the lightweight eighth.

In 1987 Alwin Otten took second place in the lightweight single behind Christian-Georg Warlich at the German championships. In 1988 Otten won and in 1989 he was second behind Björn Gehlsen . At the World Championships in 1988 Otten won the lightweight single in front of the Dutchman Frans Göbel . In 1989 Otten won bronze behind Frans Göbel and the Belgian Wim van Belleghem . In 1990 Otten finished fourth at the 1990 World Championships with the lightweight eighth .

Alwin Otten runs his own medium-sized craft business in energy technology in Meppen.
