Linus Lichtschlag (born September 4, 1988 in Berlin ) is a German rower . His biggest successes are the victories in the 2010 World Championships in the lightweight - quadruple sculls and the 2010 European Championships in lightweight double sculls . At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , he finished 6th in the final.

Career

Lichtschlag came to row through the rowers of the Paul Natorp Oberschule at the age of thirteen and quickly joined the rowing club at Wannsee . In 2006 he was a member of the national team for the first time, at the Junior World Championships he took sixth place in a two-man team without a helmsman . In his first year in the U23 age group he was a substitute rower for the U23 World Championships , in the following year he qualified in the lightweight double scull for this competition and came in fourth in the final. In 2009 he became German champion in the lightweight single (U23), qualifying again for the U23 world championships and winning the bronze medal.

In May 2010 Lichtschlag was first German champion in the lightweight single in Brandenburg an der Havel and was then nominated for the rowing world cup in the lightweight double scull with Lars Hartig, who was two years younger . After a third place in Munich and a second place in Lucerne, Lichtschlag and Hartig became European champions in Montemor-o-Velho (Portugal) in September . At the 2010 World Championships, he won the B final with the same line-up and thus finished seventh overall. The next day he became world champion in the lightweight quadruple scull.

Lichtschlag is a student in Berlin and starts for the rowing club at Wannsee .
