Lars Hartig
Lars Hartig (born December 24, 1990 in Husum ) is a German rower . His biggest success is the victory at the 2010 World Championships in the lightweight - quadruple sculls .
Hartig started rowing in 2003. He qualified for the Junior World Championships in 2008 , but was not used there as a substitute. In 2009, in his first year in the U23 age group, he surprisingly won the German championship in the lightweight one of the men as an outsider , leaving numerous older and more experienced rowers behind. As a result, he formed a double scull with Christian Hochbruck , who was two years his senior , won the German U23 championships in this boat class and was then nominated for both the U23 and A world championships . At the U23 world championships , the team won a new world record , at the world championships in Poznan the duo then finished fourth in the final.
In 2010 Hartig rowed in double sculls together with the new German champion in the lightweight single, Linus Lichtschlag . After a second and a third place in the Rowing World Cup , the team won the European Championships in September and is also nominated for the World Championships in New Zealand . Here Hartig reached seventh place alongside Lichtschlag in the lightweight double sculls before he won the world championship in the lightweight double sculls together with Lars Wichert , Jonathan Koch and again Linus Lichtschlag. In 2013 and 2014 he was again German champion in the lightweight single.
From 2015 Hartig competed in the open weight class. At the European Championships he reached 13th place and at the World Championships 14th place in the single. At the German championship rowing in 2016 he won the bronze medal. After playing as a substitute at the European Championships , he paused until 2017 inclusive. In 2018 Timo Piontek and Hartig were overall World Cup winners in the double scull. At the world championships , they both took fifth place. In 2019 he sat in two international regattas in the German quadruple scull. The team Karl Schulze , Timo Piontek, Max Appel and Lars Hartig took fourth place at the European Championships and in the second World Cup race.
Hartig started for the Friedrichstädter Rowing Society from 1926 and was awarded the Commander's Coin in 2014. He studies urban planning at the HafenCity University Hamburg .
