Daisaku Takeda

Daisaku Takeda ( jap. 武田大作 , Takeda Daisaku * 5. December 1973 in Iyo , Ehime Prefecture ) is a former Japanese lightweight - rowers , the five took part in the Olympic Games.

Athletic career

At the 1996 Olympic Games , competitions for lightweight rowers were on the program for the first time. However, the 1.78 m tall and around 72 kg heavy Takeda competed in the single with no weight restriction and placed 20th in the overall standings. At the 1997 World Championships , Takeda competed in the non-Olympic boat class in the lightweight quadruple scull and finished sixth with his crew, which also included Hitoshi Hase . The following year Takeda and Hase competed in the lightweight double scull and finished eighth at the world championships . In 1999 in St. Catharines , the two Japanese won the B final and placed seventh in the overall standings. 2000 Takeda and Hase took part together with Takehiro Habe and Kazuaki Mimoto at the beginning of August in Zagreb held world championships in the non-Olympic boat classes in lightweight quadruple sculls and won the title before the Italians and the Spanish. Takeda and Hase started in the lightweight double sculls at the Olympic Games in Sydney at the end of September and finished sixth there.

At the World Championships in 2001 Takeda started in the lightweight double scull with Kazushige Ura , the two reached fifth place. At the 2003 World Championships , Ura and Takeda finished ninth. In 2004, the two Japanese reached the A final at the 2004 Olympic Games and finished sixth. In the Rowing World Cup 2005 Takeda and Takahiro Suda took second place in Eton, in Lucerne Takeda won the lightweight single. At the World Championships in front of their home crowd in Gifu Prefecture , Takeda and Suda finished eighth in a double scull. 2006 in Eton Takeda and Suda finished seventh. At the 2007 World Championships , Takeda competed again with Kazushige Ura, the two achieved sixth place. The following year, Takeda and Ura rowed in the C-finals at the Beijing Olympics , finishing thirteenth overall. In 2009 Takeda rowed in the lightweight single and finished fourth at the World Championships , followed by fifth place in New Zealand in 2010 . At the end of his career, Takeda took part with Kazushige Ura at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the two finished twelfth.
