Walter Rantasa (born February 14, 1966 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian rower . The four-time world champion is one of the most successful rowers in his country. He achieved his successes mainly in the boat class of lightweight double sculls and lightweight quad sculls . He rowed together with Christoph Schmölzer .
At the 1996 Summer Olympics , he reached 5th place.
Rantasa is currently the deputy head of the IKEA furniture store in Graz. In the years 2001-2003 he was sports director of the Austrian Rowing Association .
Rantasa is divorced and has three children from this marriage. He and his new partner had a son in April 2014.
