Roudnice (German Raudnitz ) is a municipality with 642 inhabitants in the Czech Republic .

location

The over 3.5 km long street village is located 13 km west of Hradec Králové at 235 m above sea level. M. at the brook Roudnický potok before its confluence with the Bystřice . The Hubenická svodnice ditch flows into the village stream in the center of the village. To the east of Roudnice is the Lhota pod Libčany municipality .

history

The place Rudnicz was first mentioned in 1384. At the end of the 14th century, the Turyň Fortress was built in the west of Roudnice, owned by Beneš von Riesenburg . Other owners were Hinko Hlavatsch von Dauba ( Hynek Hlaváč z Dubé ), a family Marquart, the Soběslav on Miletínek and Wilhelm II of Pernstein , who connected it with his reign of Pardubitz .

After the sale of Pardubitz in 1560, Raudnitz became the rule of the Karl crown.

Personalities

  • The Veverka family, to which the brothers František (1796–1849) and Václav Veverka (1799–1849) belonged, lived in Roudnice since 1622. The farmer František Veverka, together with his cousin Václav, who was a blacksmith, designed the first steep turning plows.
  • The father of the painter Jan Matejko comes from Roudnice.
  • Matěj Chvojka (1755–1791), born in Roudnice, leader of the peasant uprising of 1775.
