history

St. Stanislaus Church

In the second half of the 13th century, Sendrahov Vladiken settled in the densely wooded square and built a fortress there. Their descendants called themselves "Sendražští ze Sendražic" (also Sendražský ze Sendražic ), who acquired other properties in Eastern Bohemia and from the 17th century in Silesia as Sandretzky von Sandraschütz acquired possession and reputation.

Sendražice was first mentioned in documents in 1297, when it was owned by Ondřej / Andreas von Sendražice. For the 14th century there is a church with a rectory near the fortress. In 1417 the village and the fortress were owned by Matěj von Sendražice. In 1512 Beneš Sendražský sold the fortress, the farm and the village of Sendražice to the owner of the neighboring Smiřice estate , Nikolaus the Elder. J. Trčka from Lípa († 1516; Mikuláš mladší Trčka z Lípy ). Subsequently, the abandoned fortress went under. After the death of Jan Rudolf Trčka von Lípa , his property was expropriated and sold by the Bohemian Chamber in 1636 to the imperial lieutenant general Matthias Gallas . From 1661 Sendražice belonged to the Hořiněves rule , which in 1790 was connected to the Smiřice rule by Emperor Josef II , whereby Sendražice belonged to the Smiřice-Hořiněves rule until 1848.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sendražice formed a municipality in the Königinhof district from 1850 . On July 3, 1866, the warring Prussian and Austrian troops clashed west of the village in Swiepwald and Chlum during the German War . The bloody battle went down in history as the Battle of Königgrätz . In 1882 the village received a railway connection through the Hněvčeves – Smiřice beet railway. In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Jaroměř and came after its dissolution on January 1, 1961 to the Okres Hradec Králové.
