Stračov (German Straczow , also Stratschow , 1939-1945: Elsterhof ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers north of Nechanice and belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové .

geography

Stračov is located in the southern foothills of the Horschitzer Bergland on a ridge.

history

The first written mention of Stračov was in 1358. The Klenice district has been documented since 1318. Due to its favorable location on an important trade route, Stračov developed into a regional center. In 1495, King Vladislav II elevated Stračov to a town and granted the privilege of holding a weekly market.

Stračov was the seat of a small lordship whose owners included a large number of noble families. In the middle of the 18th century, Johann Anton von Breda owned the goods. He had a baroque mansion built in place of the fortress. In 1800 the Prague citizen Prokop Kern acquired the rule and had the manor house converted into a castle. After Franz de Paula Ernst Count Harrach bought Stračov from Barbara Kern in 1838 and attached it to the Sadová rule , the castle lost its function as a manor. Harrach had the Hrádek u Nechanic Castle built as a new representative seat. The castle in Stračov was used for administrative purposes and the property in Pšánky was incorporated into the Stračov Manor.

After the abolition of patrimonial Stračov formed a municipality in the Königgrätz district . In 1869 Stračov had 607 inhabitants. In 1923, as part of the land reform, the Count Harrach's large estates were parceled out. Otto František Fišera bought the castle in 1925. During the time of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia , the place received the Germanized name "Elsterhof". From 1949 to 1960 Stračov was assigned to the Okres Hořice, since 1961 the community has belonged again to the Okres Hradec Králové. In 1964 Klenice was incorporated.

Community structure

The municipality Stračov consists of the districts Klenice ( Klenitz ) and Stračov ( Straczow ) as well as the single layer Čeňov ( Czenow ).
