Vrchovnice (German Wrchownitz even Werchownitz ) is a municipality in Czech Republic . It is located 14 kilometers northwest of the city center of Hradec Králové and belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové .

geography

Vrchovnice is located in the southern foothills of the Horschitzer Mountains on a ridge between the valleys of Frantovský potok and Bystřice . The Želkovický kopec (297 m) rises to the northwest. The Hněvčeves – Smiřice railway runs south of the village .

Neighboring towns are Žíželeves in the north, Jeřičky and Lužany in the northeast, Frantov and Habřina in the east, Račice nad Trotinou in the southeast, Hořiněves in the south, Benátky and Hněvčeves in the southwest and Želkovice in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Vrchovnice was in 1355. The village belonged to the Hořiněves rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vrchovnice formed a community in the district Hradec Králové . In 1897 the parish came to the Nová Paka district. From 1949 to 1960 Vrchovnice was assigned to the Okres Hořice. In 1961 the place was incorporated into Žíželeves and at the same time came to Okres Hradec Králové. Between 1980 and 1990 Vrchovnice was part of Hořiněves. After that the Vrchovnice commune was established again.
