Stará Voda (German Altwasser ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers east of Chlumec nad Cidlinou and belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové .

geography

Stará Voda is located by the Starovodský potok on the Chlumecká tabule ( Chlumetzer board ). On the northern outskirts running railway line Chlumec nad Cidlinou-Międzylesie , behind the state road I / 11 between Nove Mesto and Hradec Králové . Dálnice 11 / E 67 runs one and a half kilometers south of the village . To the south are the ponds Kněžský rybník and Starovodský rybník, to the south-east the desert of Nedabylice .

Neighboring towns are Přestavecko, Kosice , Třesice and Kosičky in the north, Požáry and Obědovice in the northeast, Chudeřice in the east, Pravy , Kasaličky , V Austrálii, Na Obci and Voleč in the southeast, Žáravice and Chýšť in the south, Klamoš and Rtanov in the southwest in the west and Písek , Nová Hospoda and Oktaviánov in the northwest.

Legend has it that St. Wenceslas sent his people to hunt in the woods in search of water, but all the springs dried up due to a long drought. Finally he found a well overgrown by dense bushes, which he freed from the thorns. He had a well built, which later became the village.

The first written mention of the place took place in 1369. At that time Stará Voda formed its own estate with a wooden fortress . Later the village was sold to the Přestavlky manor . After Přestavlky died out, Stará Voda became part of the Chlumetz estate . In 1611 King Matthias signed the Chlumetz Chamber of Commerce for loyal service in obtaining the Bohemian Crown to Count Wenzel Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau. After Count Wenzel Kinsky invaded the parish church of St. Ursula in Chlumetz in 1620 to stop Hussite services, an uprising broke out in the area. In 1775 the residents of Stará Voda took part in the great peasant revolt and moved to Chlumetz.

In 1833 the village Altwasser or Stara Woda , located in the Bijov district , consisted of 29 houses in which 225 people lived. The branch church of St. Wenceslaus and the school. There was also an inn in the village. The village to the Dechanteikirche of St. Ursula in Chlumetz. Until the middle of the 19th century, Altwasser remained subject to the Chlumetz Fideikommissherrschaft.

After the abolition of patrimonial Stará Voda formed a community in the judicial district of Chlumetz from 1849 . From 1868 the village belonged to the Neubydžow district . In 1869 Stará Voda had 252 inhabitants and consisted of 39 houses. Between 1870 and 1873 the Chlumetz – Königgrätz railway line was laid north of the village ; however, the village was not given a breakpoint. In 1900 there were 322 people in Stará Voda, in 1910 there were 303. In 1930 Stará Voda had 287 inhabitants and consisted of 67 houses. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Nový Bydžov was dissolved, since then the municipality has belonged to the Okres Hradec Králové . In the 2001 census, 126 people lived in the 65 houses in the community. Most of the houses date from the 19th and 20th centuries.

  • Gothic Church of St. Wenceslas on a raised square on the west side of the village square, built in the second half of the 14th century. The church was first mentioned in 1380 as a parish church. The ship was redesigned in Baroque style in the 17th century. The main altar and the two side altars were made between 1677 and 1679 and are attributed to the carpenter P. Vaněk from Česká Třebová . After the renovation, the church was rededicated in 2008.
