Gary O'Donovan (* the thirtieth December 1992 in Skibbereen ) is an Irish lightweight - rowers .

Gary O'Donovan competed in the lightweight double scull at the U23 World Championships 2013 together with Shane O'Driscoll, the two finished twelfth; In 2014, they finished tenth.

In 2015, Gary and his younger brother Paul O'Donovan formed a new lightweight double scull. At the European Championships the two crossed the finish line in fifth place, at the World Championships they qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games with eleventh place. The following year, the Norwegians Kristoffer Brun and Are Strandli won the European Championships ahead of the O'Donovans. At the 2018 World Championships, however, the Irish won by one and a half seconds over the Italians Stefano Oppo and Pietro Ruta .
