Daniele Gilardoni
Daniele Gilardoni (* 1. April 1976 in Lecco ) is a former Italian lightweight - rowers , who won from 1998 to 2011 thirteen World Championship medals, eleven gold medals.
Gilardoni began rowing in 1986. In 1998 he took part in his first world championships and won the bronze medal with the Italian lightweight eighth. In 1999 he switched to the lightweight quadruple scull. In this boat class, Gilardoni won the title eleven times at the thirteen world championships from 1999 to 2011 and took second place once and fourth place once.
With his eleven world championship titles, Gilardoni is the most successful rower at world championships ahead of the Briton Matthew Pinsent with ten titles. However, Pinsent won four Olympic gold medals, while Gilardoni won all titles in a non-Olympic boat class and was only nominated as a substitute for Olympic Games in 2008.
With a height of 1.77 meters, Gilardoni had a typical competition weight of about 71 kilograms for lightweights . He lives in Bellagio .
