Chris Bartley
Chris Bartley (* 2. February 1984 in Wrexham ) is a British lightweight - rowers . He won one gold medal and two bronze medals at world championships by 2011.
Career
Bartley began rowing in 1998. In 2005 he won his first international medal when he finished second at the U23 World Championships with the lightweight quadruple scull. In 2006 he won the lightweight two-man without helmsman together with Richard Chambers at the U23 World Championships, and at the 2006 World Rowing Championships , the two took sixth place. At the 2007 World Championships in Munich , he won the bronze medal in the lightweight quadruple scull together with Simon Jones , Rob Williams and Dave Currie . After Bartley failed to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games, he sat in the 2009 British lightweight four without a helmsman . The boat reached the A-final in all three World Cup regattas, at the 2009 World Championships in Poznan the four-man came in 13th as the winner of the C-final. In 2010 only Bartley remained from the 2009 four-man, with Richard Chambers, Paul Mattick , Rob Williams and Chris Bartley, the boat won a second place in the World Cup in Bled and two victories in Munich and Lucerne and also won the World Championships in New Zealand . A year later the boat with the same crew received the bronze medal at the World Championships in Bled . In the line-up of Peter Chambers , Rob Williams, Richard Chambers and Chris Bartley, the British four-man won the 2012 World Cup finals in Munich. In the final of the 2012 Olympic Regatta, the British foursome was defeated by the South African boat and won silver with seven hundredths of a second ahead of the Danes. At the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju , he won the bronze medal again in the lightweight foursome. In 2014, Bartley won the silver medal at the European Championships and the bronze medal at the World Championships with the foursome . With a fourth place at the European Championships and ninth place at the World Championships , the 2015 season was less successful. At the start of the 2016 season, the British lightweight four-man with Chris Bartley, Mark Aldred , Jono Clegg and Peter Chambers won the silver medal at the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel . Three months later, the four finished seventh at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
