Andreas Fuchs (born June 8, 1975 in Vienna ) is an Austrian triathlete . He is four times Austrian national champion on the long distance (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2017) and he is included in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .
Career
His sporting career began in 1985 at the Sports Secondary School Vienna 22 with a focus on athletics (long jump, running 60 to 5000 m) and cross-country skiing . He achieved the team victory at the Austrian school championships in 1988 in cross-country running in Radstadt as well as a couple of podium places in the cross-country cup. In 1989, Fuchs joined SV Donaustadt (athletics, running).
He celebrated his first victory in 1995 in Vienna at the Donauturm -staircase run of the juniors and a year later he ran his first marathon in 3:04 hours.
Long distance triathlon since 2001
Fuchs finished his first long-distance triathlon (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) - the Ironman Austria - in 2001 with a time of 10:22 hours.
National champion triathlon long distance 2009
From 2009 to 2011 he won the national championship title in the long distance triathlon three times in a row in Podersdorf. In August 2013 he became Vice State Champion on the long distance. In 2014 he was third and in 2015 again vice state champion.
In 2011 he started at the “Race across Australia” and in 2014 at the “Race across Russia”. In August 2017 he won his fourth national title on the long distance with second place at the Austria Triathlon .
In June 2018, Andreas Fuchs won the Linz Triathlon in the middle distance . In December, the 43-year-old finished tenth at the Ironman Western Australia , he won the age group 40-44 and thus qualified for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii 2019.
