Markus Strini (born January 6, 1973 ) is a former Austrian handball player , triathlete and multiple Austrian champion.

Career

Markus Strini was active as a handball player for 14 years in his youth, was in the youth national team and played for four years in the Austrian State League A.

Triathlon since 1997

At the age of 24 he got into endurance sport and started his first marathon.

Markus Strini started in 38 Ironman races (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and five times in the Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii over the long distance. Strini started in the triathlon for the TC Union Graz and from November 2004 to May 2011 he was active as a triathlon professional.

In 2001 he became national champion in the long distance duathlon. In May 2011 he declared his active time over.

The trained nurse works as a trainer and supervisor in the field of sports. He is married and lives in Lebring with his wife and 3 children .
