In 2010 he finished second at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.

Career

Filip Ospalý has been a triathlon professional since 1992. In 1995 he finished fourth at the World Junior Championships on the Olympic distance (short distance: 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running). In August 1998 he was third in the student world championship in Kiel.

2000 Summer Olympics

Ospalý took part in the first triathlon at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . After failing to finish in his first participation, he finished 29th in his second participation after 1: 57: 17.58 h of the competition.

European champion triathlon short distance 2001

Ospalý celebrated one of his greatest successes at the 2001 European Championships when he won the title in Karlsbad . He was also Vice European Champion in 2002 and 2003.

European Duathlon Champion 2006

In 2006 he was also European Duathlon Champion on the short distance in Rimini, Italy.

In 2008 he started again in Beijing at the 2008 Olympic Games . In the German triathlon Bundesliga Ospalý started for Tri-Flow Bad Endbach . In the French championship series Grand Prix de Triathlon he starts for the club EC Sartrouville .

In November 2010 he was second in Florida behind the German Michael Raelert at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. In 2012 he won the Ironman 70.3 Austria for the third time in a row .

In 2013 he started the Ironman distance in Florida for the first time (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling, 42.195 km running) and finished in third place.

European champion triathlon middle distance 2015

In May 2015, the then 39-year-old became European champion in the middle-distance triathlon in Rimini.

In September 2016 he could not finish the race at the world championship on the long distance triathlon and has not appeared internationally since.
