Le Morne

Le Morne is a small village founded by slaves ("Village") in the south of Mauritius in the Black River district . Administratively it belongs to the Village Council Area (VCA) Le Morne. At the 2011 census, the place had 1,300 inhabitants. It is located on the Le Morne Brabant mountain on a shallow lagoon and offers a wide range of water sports.
In Le Morne, many people work in the salt pans that produce the famous sea salt of Mauritius. This salt is known for its coarser shape.
