The Domplatz in Passau is the square in front of St. Stephen's Cathedral and at the same time the highest point in Passau's old town .

The cathedral square west of the cathedral was created in 1150. Until 1824 it was not accessible to the people. A number of former canons' courts are grouped around the square , which in their current form emerged mainly after the city fires of 1662 and 1680. The most important of these is the Lamberg-Palais on the opposite side of the cathedral . The modern district office is located at the only car access to the cathedral square .

In the middle of the square is a monument to the first Bavarian King Maximilian I, which was unveiled in 1824. On Tuesdays and Fridays there is a weekly market on Domplatz , and since 2004 there has also been a Christmas market before Christmas .
